Well so much for that vacation

After ~3000 miles of driving, one family reunion in the mountains of western Virginia and one week at the beach, I am back.

I don't have any pictures since I dropped the camera in copper creek so I am going to give you the vacation in bullet points.
  • I don't suggest driving from Chicago to Gate City Va. Then to Kill Devil Hills NC. I also don't suggest driving back. Take a flight, it is easier.
  • The farm where my father was born is beautiful.
  • The men in my family has a history of drunk driving (no I was not drunk driving)
  • The women in my family have a history of yelling "I told you not to drink and drive" when the police officer is standing right next to the open car window.
  • "Bull frog" Lane used to pimp out his wife and sell moonshine which made him popular with the farmers in Gate City
  • My Grandmothers first boyfriend "Owl head" used to steal eggs by hiding them in his hair so that he could trade them for candy at the store. He used to give the candy to my Grandmother.
  • They bartered with eggs like they were money
  • It was a long walk from my great grandfathers house to the school, that is why my dad rode a horse.
  • Copper Creek is still full of small mouth bass
  • Kill Devil Hills is nice
  • I can go through 3 pounds of shrimp I had to buy and not catch one fish
  • I can make I cast with a mole crab that I caught on the beach and catch a red drum.
  • Ghost crabs are really fast, but you can catch them.
  • There is a limit to how much "togetherness" my kids can handle. 13 hours in the car is that limit.
  • I am glad to be back at work so that I can get some rest.

I don't see "buying souvineers for fellow bloggers" on that list.
